Why fleas thrive in Sacramento yards
Our long warm season is as good for fleas as it is for mosquitoes. Fleas need warmth and humidity to complete their life cycle, and a shaded, irrigated valley yard provides both for most of the year. The adult fleas biting your pet are only a small fraction of the problem. Sunny open lawn is nearly flea-free because the larvae dry out and die in direct sun. So a flea treatment is a targeted treatment of the shade and the pet zones, which fits the low-impact, plant-based approach perfectly.
What the treatment involves
- Find the harborage. We walk the yard for the shaded, humid zones and the places your pets and local wildlife rest. Those are the flea nurseries, and that is where the product goes.
- Botanical treatment of the hotspots. The essential-oil based product is applied to the shaded soil, mulch, ground cover, foundation lines, and under-deck areas where flea larvae develop.

The honest scope of yard flea control
We want you to have the right expectations, because fleas are a genuinely tough pest and nobody honest promises a one-shot fix. A yard flea treatment breaks the outdoor half of the cycle, which is often the half people forget while they keep re-treating the pet and the carpet and wondering why the fleas keep coming back. But a full flea knockdown is a coordinated effort: the pet on a vet-recommended preventive, the indoor environment handled if fleas got inside, and the yard treated to stop the outdoor reservoir. We handle that last part well, on a consistent cycle, with products that are safe for the pets who spend the most time out there. Do all three together and you actually get ahead of them. Questions about yard flea control
Will treating the yard get rid of fleas on my dog?
It removes the outdoor source that keeps re-infesting your pet, which is a big part of most flea problems. But the pet still needs its own vet-recommended flea preventive, and if fleas are already indoors, the inside needs handling too. Yard treatment is one leg of a three-legged approach, and it is the leg most people skip.
I do not have pets. Why do I have yard fleas?
Wildlife. Feral cats, opossums, raccoons, squirrels, and rabbits all carry fleas and seed the yard as they pass through, so a property can develop fleas with no pet involved at all. Treating the shaded harborage where those animals rest is how you break that cycle.
Is the treatment safe for my pets?
Yes. We use the same low-risk, essential-oil based products as the rest of the program, and the yard is safe for pets once it dries. Keep them off the treated areas until dry, the same as any lawn product.
How many treatments until the fleas are gone?
Fleas rarely clear in one visit because of their resistant pupal stage, which can keep hatching for a couple of weeks. The 21-day cycle is designed to catch each new wave as it emerges. Most yards see a strong drop after the first couple of visits when paired with treating the pet and, if needed, the indoors.
